History
Angel6 was founded by former Actuary, Alister Esam, after successfully exiting his SaaS business and spending seven years angel investing with his own capital.
Alister regularly saw EIS used as the reason to invest rather than the icing on the cake. Too much pitch theatre and too little attention on the business fundamentals and valuation. So he applied standard investing principles, the same ideas people like Warren Buffett and Joel Greenblatt use, to early stage start-ups: understand the business, score the fundamentals, insist on fair terms. He was quickly reviewing hundreds of opportunities each year and backing the best six that cleared the bar on key metrics such as traction, revenue quality, market size, and value for money.
On paper, that approach has delivered 40%+ annualised returns, and Alister has been recognised as a “Super Angel” by SyndicateRoom.
Angel6 was founded to share those selected investments with other investors so the start-ups can gain access to increased funding.

Investment Approach
We’re looking for EIS investments with great potential but aren’t in a knife fight with 100’s of others for some massive winner takes all goal. Our guiding principles are:

✔ Business First: EIS/SEIS are nice bonuses, but what matters most is not losing money and instead getting a great return.
✔ Revenue Quality: Cohorts, low churn, high margin, and repeatability over vanity metrics.
✔ Revenue Growth: High enough growth so we can see the next raise will be at a much higher valuation.
✔ Proof of Demand: Happy paying customers, product market fit, pilots don’t count.
✔ Room to Grow: Sizeable addressable market, practical route to scale, obvious blockers addressed early.
✔ Margin of Safety: Adequate runway. Fall back security if they struggle to raise.
✔ Defensibility: Having a moat or exploiting their own niche within a larger market.
✔ Price Discipline: Entry terms must be competitive.
